Fine Arts courses and activities at MLS focus on developing students' gifts in visual and performing arts for personal enjoyment and service to the Church.
Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. (Psalm 150)
There are four mixed choruses on campus: Freshman Chorus, Sophomore Chorus, Chapel Choir, and Concert Choir. The students experience singing God’s praises in a group of four or more mixed parts. Students have an opportunity to learn to sing a cappella and with instrumental accompaniment. These choruses give students experience for congregational singing and choirs.
The Concert Choir, made up of juniors and seniors by audition, represents MLS in congregations throughout the United States. They sing in Michigan congregations as often as twice a month, and they take an extended tour in the spring of each year.
The Shadows is a subset of the Concert Choir that works with the Admissions Department. They sing secular music for events both on and off campus and travel to the WELS high school Choral Fest each November.
The MLS Band is a curricular ensemble available as an elective to all students. They have concerts in the fall and spring and perform in both the Christmas and Commencement concerts with the MLS choirs. They are also the core members of the Pep Band which plays for athletic events on campus.
All students are welcome to participate in the two shows produced each year. In the fall, MLS presents a play or musical. In the spring, a Children's Theater show is presented for area students.
