Academics

Christian Education: Pressing on Toward the Goal
MLS has a single course of study which is designed to equip every student to meet the enrollment requirements of Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota. Students are required to complete a religion course each year. Each class is an opportunity for students to grow in grace through the Word of God in a way that builds up their faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The coursework exceeds the standards set for admission to public colleges in the state of Michigan. During their studies at MLS, graduates normally accumulate between 29 and 32 credits. The minimum 24.3 credits must include:

Grading Scale
Permanent grades are given only at the end of each semester.  The semesters are divided into three terms for the purpose of monitoring academic progress.  Term Grade reports are available to parents via the Infinite Campus Portal at the end of each of the six terms.  Term Grade reports include letter grades in each subject area, a record of attendance, and helpful comments from instructors.  At the end of the third and sixth terms, which close the two semesters, the grade report includes grades given for semester and semester exams.   Only semester grades become part of a student’s permanent record or transcript.

MLS uses letter grades and the standard 4-point system, as illustrated below:
