Teens for Life
What do we do?
We have monthly program meetings in which we explore a topic pertaining to some life issue, such as adoption, embryonic and adult stem cells, infertility, chastity, etc., either by presentation, discussion, or video. This is where we learn about various topics in light of God's Word so that we can be witnesses to the sanctity of life. We also have project meetings once a month to work on any of the activities listed below. One of the most exciting activities is to go to the National Christian Life Resources Convention, which includes a "Teens for Life" Convention for high school students.
Other activities include:
- Decorating Christmas trees at a local hospice to bring the joy of Christ's eternal promise to those in "end of life" care.
- Celebrate Christian Life Week at MLS with special chapel services throughout the week, producing and displaying posters on life issues throughout the school.
- Maintaining a life issues bulletin board on which we display information on a life topic.
- The creation and decorating of folders using old Sunday School(pre Christ Light)materials that had been donated to Teens for Life. The counselors at the Pregnancy Counseling Centers give the folders to the children who visit the center with their mothers.
- The continuing formation and updating of a "Life information center"; a collection of magazines, videos, articles and reports on life issues in the MLS library for the benefit of students and faculty.
- Our one major annual project: a clothing and goods drive for needy clients of the Saginaw and Flint WELS Pregnancy Counseling Centers. For information about this year's drive please see the following link.
