The Phantom Tollbooth

A Children’s Play in Two Acts

Three performances:

Friday, November 16^th, 2007 at 9:30 am and 1:00 pm
These performances are filled with LES students from the area
AND
Saturday, November 17^th, 2007  at 7:00 pm
This performance is open to the public with an offering at the door instead of admission

The story is full of real characters and wry, dry humor.

Milo is a normal boy who wastes time. He finds little interest in the world around him, especially in learning math and English. He does not see any reason in learning these subjects.

One afternoon he receives a gift box. In the box is a tollbooth and map and everything else he needs to take a trip to anywhere his expectations can take him. Since he was just killing time, he decides he might as well see what happens if he drives through the tollbooth to the land beyond.

As he drives through this phantom tollbooth, Milo is transported into a new and strange land. He meets many different characters, a watchdog named Tock, The Whether Man, a Humbug, a Spelling Bee, Azaz the Unabridged and The Mathemagician (brothers who don’t get along), Princesses Rhyme and Reason, Kakafonous A. Discord (Dr. of Dissonance) and his Awful Dynne, Lethargians, numbers miners, and demons to name a few.

The actors have begun practices and we are having fun. Come and join us.
