Nouvel 4-7-2008
Tonight we beat Nouvel 6-5 in the first game and in a 4 inning game we won 8-3. Josh Byers led the way with 2 HR and 2 doubles and he pitched the second game. Jacob Schmeige also hit a HR in the first game. This was the first time we had beated Nouvel since 2003.
Bridgeport 4-8-2008
Last night we split with Bridgeport in our double-header. In the first game we won 2-1 behind Josh Byers two-run home run and Ben Shaffer pitching a complete game one-hitter. In the second game we out hit them 8 to 2 but lost 5-8. Jeremy Schultz had two hits, one a home run. Joe Lindloff and Josh Brassow each had two hits. Defensively we have things to work on, but our pitchers are throwing strikes.
Shepherd 4-14-2008
Last night we lost to Shepherd 0-7 and 1-7. They had excellent pitching that held us to one hit in the first game and three in the second. The one bright spot for us was Josh Byers had two doubles in the second game.
Bay City All Saints 4-15-2008
Last night we took one on the chin at All-Saints. We lost 1-11 and 8-14. We still have a long way to go when it comes to fielding the ball and that we can work on. On the positive side of things, we did hit the ball hard, but many time it was right at someone.
Sanford 4-19-2008
On Saturday we were at Meridian for a tournament. In the first game we took care of business and won 11-2 verses Meridian. We had a long wait for the championship game verses Williamson. We came out on the short end losing 3-8.
Millington 4-21-2008
Last night we lost to Millington 1-4 in the first game and won the second game 17-9. In the first game Jeremy Byers pitched well, but we had one bad inning in which we gave up three unearned runs. In the second game we had three players with three hits each: Jeremy Byers, Joe Lindloff, and Garrett Schoch. Jeremy Byers was 5 for 7 for the day.
Breckenridge 4-24-2008
It was a tough night last night. We lost our first two conference games to Breckenridge 2-7 and 2-5. The key to the night was they hit the ball and we struggled. They hit five home runs to our one. Jeremy Byers hit his first home run of the season.
St. Charles 4-29-2008
It was another tough night on the field. We lost 1-16 and 5-6 to St. Charles. In the first game nothing went right. In the second we out hit them 11 to 8 but still came up on the short end. We just haven't been able to put two good games together.
Valley Lutheran 5-3-2008
Yesterday we were at the Valley Lutheran tournament. In the first game we lost 8-14 to Coleman and in the second game we beat Valley 15-12. In both game there was plenty of hitting. The first game was a close game going into the 7th innning the scored was tied 4-4, but the wheels came off and we gave up 10 runs. In the second game we kept coming back from deficits and ended up winning a slugfest.
Carrollton 5-6-2008
Tonight we split with Carrollton. We lost the first game 3-8 and won the second game 8-4. We didn't play very well in the first game, giving up too many unearned runs. We play much better in game two. We got down in the first inning 0-3 but battled back to take the lead 4-3. After they tied it at four, we scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. It was nice to get our first conference win.
